Maintain & Optimise

Rapid Response

When an aeration system fails to meet its basic objective there is no time to waste!

Overview

Is your aeration system exceeding licence limits? Are dissolved oxygen setpoints being missed? Are you getting regular faults and alarms?

When a system is under strain there are usually clear indicators. For many organisations, aeration systems aren’t a priority… until they become a problem! When things go wrong you need to fix them fast.

Our rapid response service will get the aeration system humming again and running its best. We will endeavour to rearrange our schedule to prioritise your project and pull the plant back from the brink in the shortest possible time.

This will usually involve chemical cleaning of your diffusers and backpressure tests to verify improvement. Aqua Audit can also make recommendations based on our observations on site and extensive experience elsewhere.

Who this is important to:

Operators, Process Engineers

Benefits:
  • Almost immediate improvements in pressure loss and aeration performance
  • Fast deployment to site
Evidence / Data Proof:

Diffuser cleaning can deliver an overnight improvement in backpressure and often efficiency. Over hundreds of tests Aqua Audit has conducted, backpressures generally drop between 1-2 kPa in the first 24 hours.

Why use us to do it:
  • Tried, tested and safe equipment and processes
  • Rapid aeration improvements

Cleaning & Maintenance

Look after your equipment and it will look after you!

Overview

Aeration systems used anywhere between 40 and 70 % of total energy at a wastewater treatment plant. Dosing can make a substantial impact on lifetime energy use.

Diffusers operate in an unfriendly environment. Cleaning aeration systems is an infrequent activity that requires experience, specialist equipment and uses hazardous materials.

Whether you just need to give the system an ad-hoc clean (for example following a period of heavy use, contamination or blower shut down) or if you need regular maintenance, our team can take care of it all for you, giving you one less thing to worry about.

Regular cleaning of diffused aeration systems will reduce the energy intensity of operations, extend diffuser life – sometimes by DOUBLE – and restore system capacity.

Starting a regular cleaning program within the first 6-12 months is ideal and will prevent the build up of stubborn inorganic and biological fouling.

Our preferred method is to use acid vapour dosing, which allows us to clean the system without having to isolate or shutdown the plant, making it highly time efficient and cost effective compared to other methods.

Who is this important to?

Operators, Asset Engineers/Managers, Process Engineers

Benefits:
  • Get improvements overnight, literally!!
  • Avoid premature, costly shutdowns
  • Minimise maintenance costs
Evidence / Data Proof

Research by Rosso and Stenstrom (2006) found the following:

“The analyses include loss of transfer efficiency and elevated headloss, which both increase operating cost. Cleaning the diffusers within 12 months of operation is generally economically favourable, restores efficiency, and reduces power overhead. Periodic cleaning prolongs the economically viable lifespan for the aeration system.”

Aqua Audit’s own data from hundreds of tests support these research findings.

Why use Aqua Audit?
  • Tried, tested and safe equipment and processes
  • Rapid aeration improvements
  • Reduction in energy costs
  • Extended diffuser life – capital replacement costs are often the most significant!
